I wrote this poem for the memory of the student who died at the hands of his “brothers” during a hazing ceremony. I still cannot understand how brotherhood can mean violating someone, hitting them, paddling them, causing them pain to the point of death. It is not right, and my heart goes out to the parents and relatives of this young boy. I know that De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde condemns this act and they are doing something about the situation. ANIMO Benilde.

On Hazing (A Haiku)

A blue summer day.
Eagle swoops down on his prey.
Crimson bleeds the sky.
